Wrong Color Wires on Motor According to Alltrax Diagram
Hello, I'm installing a new Alltrax controller and according to the diagram the F1 F2, and A1 A2 wires are backward. Meaning the colors seems to have been reversed. My question is this, should I follow the color of the wires? or should I follow the label on the motor? This is what I ended up with, can anybody tell me if I did the right thing before I apply power to it?

No do not yet apply power. There are a few things that need to be ironed out.

Do you know the history of the cart? The wires do not know what color they are.

Re: Wrong Color Wires on Motor According to Alltrax Diagram
Houston we have a problem.... (Lol - Not really)
As MC stated the motor controller does not know color, but the controller does know orientation. It looks like you have yours hooked up by the CC orientation, and for some reason Alltrax has there's differently: Alltrax: B+ to A2 (Green) M- to A1 (White) F1 to F1 (Blue) F2 to F2 (Orange) Club Car: B+ to A1 (Green) M- to A2 (White) F1 to F1 (Orange) F2 to F2 (Blue) So there are 2 schools of thought here; if you keep your factory (CC) orientation, it will work and be consistent for factory troubleshooting, if you change it, again it will work and be consistent for Alltrax troubleshooting. The F1/F2 cables are really just jumpers as they are connecting 2 identical points together. I was just speaking to David Hicks (TahoeDawgZ71) last week and during our conversation this came up. He said he still installs his with the factory orientation so the cabling on the Alltrax controller matches what was on the Curtis controller that came off.... And I forget if it is the CC orientation or the Alltrax orientation, but on one of them, when you go to run the cart the Fwd/Rev will be backwards and you will have to swap the F1/F2's at either the motor or the controller and then it is back to normal. |

Re: Wrong Color Wires on Motor According to Alltrax Diagram
There is more than one way to wire a series cart. And while either way described will work I suggest you follow the wire diagram in the Alltrax owner's manual.
Alltrax made the speed control and their engineers draw the install diagrams. If you have any trouble with it in the future or you call Alltrax for assistance or warranty you want to have it wired according to the Alltrax install diagram. |

Thanks, so either way I’ll be ok and won’t blow anything up? That’s the most important thing for me. 😄

Re: Wrong Color Wires on Motor According to Alltrax Diagram
You are correct, just remember which color scheme you used so if you are troubleshooting in the future, you know you are on the CC or Alltrax version or you will pop a blood vessel....

Re: Wrong Color Wires on Motor According to Alltrax Diagram
Ok, so I put power to my system and my reverse buzzer buzzes in reverse. But I get nothing else. I think I heard the fan on the controller start blowing for a second but when I pressed the go pedal nothing happened. No clicking solenoid or anything. It was the end of the day so I couldn’t trouble shoot much. Any ideas where to start?

Re: Wrong Color Wires on Motor According to Alltrax Diagram
- Open the Alltrax tool kit and see what is missing.
- Double check the coil suppression diode and make sure it is oriented correctly (striped side landed on the same small post as the light blue wire). - On the 6-pin connector from the OBC, install a jumper or metal paper clip between the white wire and the blue wire on the cart's harness side connector. (That has been an issue of late for some XCT installs) |

Ok. I’ll try those when I get home. However, I thought the coil suppression diode wasn’t used any more.
