Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
Hi all,
I just bought a CLUB CAR DS 1996 with the following motor controller. GE IC3645SH4D222C2 48V-220AMP This is an replacement controller since it has a conversion kit, it has been manufactured in 2000, etc. I opened it, a MOSFET was toasted, I changed it, no success... Now, motor is the following: CLUB CAR PART NO. 101854501 Looks like a REGEN motor. So, if controller and motor are REGEN, I would need a ALLTRAX "REGENERATIVE" controller? The GO pedal potentiometer is 5K-0 model. Regarding the OBC I might just remove it as I would like to buy a new charger (not really sure if OBC is still working)... The big question is what ALLTRAX controller should I buy to make this CLUB CAR run like a charm? Or is there any other alternative to make this run correctly? Do I absolutely need to buy a REGEN model? Thanks to all of you, Regards, pturcotte |

Re: Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
You have to buy a "SepEx" controller (or "regen", sepex is a more commonly used term). XCT is the current Alltrax lineup of sepex controllers. Call them, or ScottyB for correct sub-model for your application.

Re: Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
If it’s a ‘96 you might have the dreaded Regen 1 system. Is it a silver controller or a T shaped controller? If it’s silver, yours is probably a Regen 2, which I believe Alltrax now makes an upgrade for.

Re: Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
According to the number given, and Google, it's the silver box with the 26 pin AMP connector like g19-22 Yamaha.

Re: Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
If its really '96 then its Regen 1 with an adapter to a replacement Regen 1 silver controller. Easy to tell. He will have no run/tow switch. If he has no tow/run then only David at Revolution can supply the multiple parts to convert it to use the Alltrax IQ controller. A new wiring harness and probably MCOR plus tow/run switch at minimum.

Re: Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
Sounds like a Regen 1 converted to Regen 2. Your most simple and most reliable solution would be to install an IQ wire harness, MCOR4 conversion kit, tow/run switch, and the Alltrax XCT IQ in your choice of amperage. It'll get you on the road again with far more power than the cart has ever had before. If you choose to go with anything more than a 300 amp, you'll need a cable set, heavy duty cables, and a motor as well. The factory Regen motor can't handle big upgrades.

Re: Want to change Motor Controller from GE to ALLTRAX
I think you are right, because it seems like a REGEN II controller. I have posted a picture below.
Even if I have to buy a newer ALTRAX series that needs to be programmed with a "SOFT" throttle curve, it would be OK. All I want is to have it running... :) Thanks for your help! |
