I just acquired a '97 club car utility cart 48v so far I changed the battery cables and solenoid but I was wondering if any of you guys out there could suggest a step by step regimen for testing this cart . The cart has lived here in Miami near the Bay which is why I started with all new cables. I suspect potential problems with the controller and or the throttle and plan to jack the rear wheels up later today to see if I can get any power at the wheels . The rear buzzer works, the key switch sticks but I can turn it after a wiggle or two.
any tips would be appreciated . I have been reading this forum all morning . Wow what a resource thanks

Don't rev that motor up on jack stands.

Thanks. I actually did put the rear end up on jack stands but just to make sure that after 5 months of replacing all the wiring and cables it didn't just take off when turned on and put in forward! I just ran it a little in F and R to make sure it worked but good to know about revving it up.

Oh joy!
Today with the help of the jack stands Bob P lent me I got the little truck off the ground . A bit more cleaning then I discovered 2 connections B and (I had taken off months ago when testing the solenoid I hooked them and everything else I could find up and tried the accelerator . I thought I heard a click , again yes the solenoid is getting power then...........grrrrrrr the left wheel appears to be turning. Whew what a terrible grease free sound, then a nudge of the left wheel it's trying but now now the left wheel is spinning and getting quieter . This calls for lubrication I have some grease and 90 weight in the shop . Another check on the web indicates I need to adjust the brakes . Any other tips are appreciated . This thing may run . Wow!

DONT OVER REV OR RUN HIGH SPEED ON JACK STANDS!!! Dont worry about 1 wheel turning and the other not while running on jackstands. It probably sounds pretty horrible with only 1 wheel spinning and the other turning occasionally also. Just spin the rear wheels and make sure the brakes have an equal amnount of drag or freewheel in them. If you need to loosen one up, pull the wheel, remove the drum and on the bottom of the shoes is a small toothed wheel that you turn to adjust the brakes. You want to get it so the shoes just barely scrape the drums while turning bu hand. Get the 2 sides equal and thats it. If the pedal still feels low, you will need to take some slack out of the brake cables, find where the 2 cables meet at a bracket under the cart and tighten the nut inbetween the 2 cables, to remove the play in the cables. Good Luck

There's a reason they're called carts

Jim a friend came by to look at the golf cart (dump truck)and said he had some nice bigger `10" wheels so we drove to his place in his street legal cart and I got some nice new wheels and tires .That was my first time driving on the street out there . Wow ! Thrilling!
Came back and installed the rear ones and just for fun after I lowered the cart to see how it looked jacked up a little higher in the back. Just then my Daughter drove up and asked, "got that thing running yet? "
"Sure watch this and I backed the **** thing up Oh My Goodness.
Then tried forward Uh Oh Then out the driveway and jaunty jolly down the street we waddled. Turning on Plaza I notice a slight loss of power . Oh no! A hill! I kept the pedal to the floor and slowly painfully up she pulled only one more hill to go . (In many parts of America and Holland what we call a hill wold be amusing) The dreaded Avocado ave. ascent (Natl Geo Aug 1949) Somehow we made it whew! At the final turn I waved to the cheering lawn service guys who threw their sombereros aloft .

We're home now . Resting. She needed a charge. Pictures to follow also a video by B P
