Default tire size for 94 DS

I have a 94 Club Car 36 volt with the stock tires and rims. I need to use it around the barn and the stock tires just aren't making the grade. I want to put some tires with a more aggresive tread and I would like to go bigger. How big can I go before needing a lift?
Also can you shorten the Steering wheel shaft? I hate it the steering wheel being up to your chin.
Thanks
Lee

I got an old 90 36 volt cart here that has farm lugs all the way around, little bigger then stock, go through anything.

Welcome saltwater redneck. You can run 20" on the back without a lift depending on the load you're gonna carry. The column can be shortened easily enough if you can weld. Also, Club Car offers a shorter column in there aftermarket.

I guess you are saying that the 20"s will not fit on the front. How close is it? I can do a simple lift and get a couple inches myself. As for the weight we have a couple small trailers we pull instead of loading the cart itself.
Thanks

2 inches of lift would allow 2 inch bigger tires. Seriously the tractor lug tires in the original size sound like a bolt on solution for you.. and a phone book to sit on
