Default Alltrax DCX400r19 Can you bench test?

Is there a way to bench test an Alltrax DCX400r19? I picked one up from a guy, but he was not sure it worked. I tested the power terminals as in the manual and the power terminals all tested good. I was told there was no way to bench test it. Any ideas? I am completely redoing a 1984 Club Car DS. I want to make it a 48 volt. I was planning on getting a used wiring harness and updating everything I need to, I think I will have to replace the accelerator pedal as well. I already have the old cart already, but it has been sitting for years without any motor, batteries or any electronics. If this is not usable I may convert the cart to gas, so I don't want to go buy batteries and a electric motor just yet. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I live in Florida, so parts seem to be readily available.

Thanks

Scott

Yes here is the connection diagram. Of course you will need the Altrax software and a serial cable to connect your computer.

There is a simple bench test for this control with just a multimeter here > https://alltraxinc.com/wp-content/up...ontrollers.pdf

Scottyb, I was told that only checks the power leads, will that tell if the unit is good alltogether?

Thanks

Thanks guys for the replies. So I did the power test and everything for power passed. I then downloaded the software and bought a cable to see what the controller was reading. I showed that it was DCX 400, with serial number and Field Map #4.

My question is, since the power tested good and the controller is reading correctly, is it possible that this thing is no good, or should I move forward. I don't have a grand right now to drop in this cart, so I am trying to just get it on the road for as low as possible, and I don't want to put money into it if it is bad new controller over $300 without question. If I am going to use it, I still need to get a Club Car adapter for it. I am replacing everything, so if I move forward I will also need to find a solenoid and a motor. I am looking to make the electronics as basic as possible with little to go wrong. I don't see a need for regen. What year club car was the best for fewest problems.

Thanks again,

Scott

It sounds like it's working. BUT. A brief search indicates that a DCX Controller is for a sepex cart. It sounds like you have a series cart

I think you are correct, not sure if that is a good thing or bad. I am taking an old club car and updating it. I was hoping to keep it a little more simple with a little less money. I wasn't even going to use a OBC, figured I would just get a good charger that would control the charge. Man I have a steep learning curve on this electronic stuff, but I love learning and making things work. If you or anyone else had input please share.

Thanks again,
Scott

Because it is an 84 chances are it is a series cart however you have a bare drive train. You can put what ever you want back in it. You just need to wire it accordingly. Does it have a throttle box of any type? Oh and a field map 4 is normally an ezgo pds motor so I’m guessing that is what it came out of. As for the connector stop thinking club car, you just need a 10 pin harness. As for my second thought, why would one pull a working 400 dcx?

As mentioned this is a sepex controller and you have a series cart./ Basically this is not the right controller for this cart.

It has no electronics so you can build what you want. Just buy the correct parts. Just because it was a series cart doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.
