Default Rear End Housing cracked on 1995 Club Car DS 36 Volt

My 1995 Club Car DS has a cracked housing that the motor mounts to. 2 of the bolts are missing due to the cracks. The motor makes a noise, as it does not mesh properly with the rear. Can I replace the entire rear end, springs and all with the rear end from a 2002 Club Car DS with a 3.5 HP motor. The old rear end has a 2.97 HP motor...

Oop's I just saw that is a 36v set up. It will all bolt up, but that is most likely a 48v motor in the '02. Although they did make the 36v's thru '02. Just need to check the motor on it to be sure, but the rest will work.

The motor on the 2002 says 36 volt, even though it is a 48 volt cart ?

Your motor should bolt onto the 02 axle. That would be the easiest thing.

To determine if the motor in the 02 will work in your cart you should post the part numbers of both motors so we can positively ID each one.

Someone may have put a 36v motor in it to get the added speed and torque. If they are both Series units, just to a complete swap and the cables should be the same designations on each motor. As FT4M mentioned, you will have a good back up motor, although I would inspect the bearing in it since it has been riding somewhat ajar with the missing bolts....

The old Motor from the 1995 36v CC has p/n 1017728-01 and model # 5BC58JBS6163A on it and 2.97 HP special service on the tag and that is really it.
The newer motor from the 2002 48v CC has no p/n on the tag. It has Model # 5BC58JB6334 on it and 3.5 HP. 3000 RPM, 36 volt, 90 amp, wound series FR58 class b, amb 40 5 min, cat # 0377 and date code YTN on it.

I removed the newer rear end with leaf springs still connected and am hoping to just install it in one piece on the 1995 cart.

Any worries with this motor from the 2002 48v CC ?

Yep, sounds like it's a series motor, just bolt up the whole thing and go!
