1997 DS won't go
Hi folks, total beginner here, probably in over my head but everyone has to start somewhere, right?
Long story short, my cart won't go. Here is what I have done to so far: Replaced motor, solenoid, F/R switch, and all battery cables with a kit that I purchased from ScottyB. After doing this it was running, although a couple glitches, glitches being that when I first went to drive it, it wouldn't go, so I put it in neutral and backed it out of my garage by hand, and then after that it starting running just fine. That happened a couple times after it sat and charged over night, it wouldn't run until I physically moved it, and then it would run. So now it's been sitting for a few weeks in the garage as I disassembled the entire body of the cart to repaint everything, and I installed a new 48V to 12V reducer. In doing so I rotated my OBC 180 degrees, initially when I did this I didn't realize that the direction of battery cable going through it needed to be flip-flopped as well. I didn't ever try running it this way, I was informed before I tried running it that the direction of the cable was important, so I changed it. I ended up finding a new spot to mount the reducer, so I replaced the OBC to it's original position, with the cable from the B- entering the OBC on the same side as the other wires. So, now that I am ready to get back running, it won't go. The solenoid clicks when I have the key on and press on the accelerator, but nothing happens. I've checked all my connections and they are tight. Any recommendations on where to start troubleshooting? |

The first thing I would do is check the "cold" side of the solenoid for pack voltage after it clicks to make sure it is working. Of course, jack the rear wheels off the ground when doing this.

The motor. It is a classic sign of a bad set of brushes in the motor when you push it and then it starts working. Was it a new motor that you installed?

Ok. Not 100% sure what this means - I'm guessing that means to press the accelerator, and while pressed check the voltage on the big post of the solenoid that connects to the controller? When I do this, I assume the negative cable on my multimeter goes to the negative post on the batter pack?

Hi, I checked and the voltage changes from about 49.1V when 'cold' to the same as the pack voltage when the accelerator is depressed, so I assume this means the solenoid is ok? |

Re: 1997 DS won't go
You are showing 49 volts on the cold side without pressing the go pedal?

OK. You are running a resistor right?
