GPS wire harness help needed, trying to use to power amp.
I was hoping someone has done this before but have struck out searching. My cart came with the versa GPS rack and wiring harness pre run up to the baskets. I’ve installed some wakeboard speakers to the rear roof supports and have a marine amp I’m going to mounting/installing in the space behind the gps screen location. I want to install the voltage reducer behind the dash where the gps harness starts then use the pre wired gps wires in the overhead rack to power and ground the amp. I can pull 42v from the BLACK AND DARK BROWN WIRE (pictured below). I’m not sure how to test for ground. Do you know what wires I should use...alternatively I could use the wires leading to this harness Red with white stripe, yellow with black, white with black. I’m not sure if using a 48-12v reducer would have an issue since the black wire is only showing 42 and change volts.
Thanks for any input...I’m still very timid with the electrical stuff. |

Thank you for the Diagram, that is helpful. Would there be harm not using the reducer off the main battery pack but the pre wired harness, I’m just trying to keep things simple, but not sure if there is no no that I’m not electrically savy enough realize that’s a bad idea.

I have a plug and play reducer in my car which kinda sorta works the same way you want to do it...taking the full voltage from the gps socket should work in theory
