Did you buy one designed specifically to work with an OBC?

Yes links model 29840. I’ve gone though all the checks on revolution sites charging system check list. Checked voltage at relay it was 48 v same as pack. Not sure what next.

Then your OBC has failed and will not start the charger.

What year is your cart and is it a Series or Sepex unit?

97” I think a series. I thought if you had the pack voltage at the red and blue wires at the charger relay that meant the obc was good. I have 48 vdc. Is there way to check the obc.

Just means you have that part. There is a lot more then just the voltage being preset in regards to OBC operation.

You can bypass the OBC by running a jumper from the back side of the charge receptacle (where the black 10g wire is that goes into the harness) and run it directly to the Main Pack Negative. Also take the grey sense wire coming off the same receptacle and land it to the same pack Negative. This will allow the charger to turn on "if" the OBC has failed. Note- This is only to test and not to make normal operation. You would not be "charging" the batteries at all, just quickly "surface charging" the battery plates. The OBC's purpose is to regulate/reduce the current once the batteries reached a much lower voltage and allow the charge to slowly build up to the cutoff voltage. If you just run it unregulated, the plates will quickly reach 61v to 63v but not be fully charged.

Hooked up jumpers and the charger kicked on. So looks like the OBC is bad. Good call. Now would you buy a new OBC or bypass it and get a different charger? If you would get a different charger what would you recommend? Thanks again for all the help!!!!!!!!

https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...-ds-series-48v You are looking at $282 for an OBC (Tahoe may discount it for a member - have to ask him)

https://shop.cartsunlimited.net/DPI-...harger-DPI.htm scottyb is $295 for a DPI Accusense which is a smart charger.

OBC's are good and have a lot of points to them, but they are still old technology compared to today's smart chargers of which in my opinion, the DPI leads the pack.

Make the choice you feel is best for your needs.

Smart charger is the way to go.
Summit 2, DPI, Yewy, Delta-Q, all good chargers, all the same concept, and will charger your pack better than the OBC/powerdrive system.

If I didn't have 9 electric carts to worry about I would change all of mine to smart chargers. But it's hard to do that from a budget standpoint, especially when they all still work.

ok I bought a yewey charger. Now I need to bypass my OBC. I have the instructions but there's one thing I'm not sure of. Do I take the black wire from the receptacle to the OBC from the receptacle to the negative battery? Do I take the yellow wire from the solenoid to the OBC from solenoid to the battery negative? Just cut these at the back of the OBC? thanks.
