Are PD Plus batteries fitted to all new CLub cars?
Be gentle with me, my first post.
Club car fit many new carts with PD - a Mexican-made battery. I understand PD is part of Johnston Controls. Trawling through the net, can't find any data for these batteries. Nor is their any basic data on the batteries themselves. I've started a battery maintenance venture & have purchased an Energic Plus regenerator. I discharged a new 48V set today. I guessed their C5 capacity to be 135. I applied a 15A load, after 9 hours, the batteries dropped to an average of 6.8V (1.7 per cell) reaching 135A - meaning I now have a C9 rating but not a C5! Can anyone shed more light on this brand - Technical data, build quality, life-span or reliability please? Cheers |

They are used in many new Club Cars. I consider them interstate batteries with a different sticker – even though I may be wrong. They are made by the same company.
That being said, I have seen packs of them last 5+ years if properly maintained. Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |

It is my understanding that Interstate does not manufacture batteries. They are only a Distributor.

Re: Are PD Plus batteries fitted to all new CLub cars?
Cheers Luke,
I punched the PD part number in & found the US Battery US8VGCXC2. Case is identical. C20 is 170AH (same as T875) though C5 is markedly lower - 130AH, so my guess at 135 was not so bad. Amazes me that US boast 325 minutes over Trojan's 295, when their C20 ratings are exactly the same & the US C5 is 8% the poorer. You get what you pay for. |
