Jerks hard on last solenoid
Working on a 1986 Club Car 36 volt, new controller, F/R switch, all 5 solenoids, motor,
batteries. Not much power until it hits #5 solenoid then its whiplash time. same issue in reverse. Any ideas? |

Re: Jerks hard on last solenoid
I'm not up to much on the older carts, but if it has 5 solenoids it shouldn't have a controller as far as I know. Should have a row of resistor coils behind the solenoids.
Either something is wired incorrectly, V-glide isn't working properly, or one or more resistors is burned out. |

Re: Jerks hard on last solenoid
Actually no V-glide either if it has 5 solenoids. I would guess one or more bad solenoids and/or microswitches.

Re: Jerks hard on last solenoid
It should have the Pie wedge, right? Isn't that the V-glide, or two different things?

Re: Jerks hard on last solenoid
The pie wedge (V-glide) didn’t start until ‘88. Those carts had only one solenoid and resistors.
The five solenoid carts have a bunch of microswitches in a small aluminum box with red plastic covers. I prefer the 5 solenoid microswitch resistor carts to the V-glide resistor systems. Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |

Re: Jerks hard on last solenoid
This is not unusual on old solenoid carts. You are missing at least one of your middle speeds so that your cart is going from no or low power straight to full power with nothing in the middle. Hence the whiplash. If you jack the back of your cart up you should and slowly depress the accelerator you should be able to noticeably hit 3 or 4 different speeds (I am not sure how many speeds for your specific cart). I bet you are hitting the low speed then nothing until you hit the highest. Your middle speed solenoid(s) are probably bad.

Re: Jerks hard on last solenoid
Checked all of the solenoids and they are working correctly, replaced the resistor coils, still the same problem. When I check the voltage on the solenoids the first on the driverside has no volts, the 2nd has 3 volts, 3rd has 6 volts and the 4th has 18 volts. the last one produces 37 volts or full battery voltage. the last resistor coil on the passenger side glows bright red while driving. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
