Default 88 club car solenoid question

I reciently purchased a 88 club car 36v resistor style cart, the solenoid is bad on it so I started searching the internet and found your cool site. The solenoid that came off it said it was for use on serial nos prior to A8845 and it is for use on multi solenoid speed systems [that I dont have mine is serial number A8847] is this a correct part number to replace it with [#8016] or did someone put the wrong one on it at some time? I have seen two different types now, the flat based one like mine and another one that has a tower with 2 5/16 studs and the smaller ones side by side lower down the tower. Which one is correct or will either one work? Thanks Tom

Your solenoid should look like this 1989.... There are also some heavy duty and lighter duty aftermarket stuff out there.... Be sure to get one that is rated for your voltage ......
