What kind of adhesive? OEM Seat
My CC Precedent project has a stock seat that has come off of the plastic back piece. Overall the seat vinly, cushion and back piece are in fine shape. Just need to glue it back in place.
NOTE: This is a bit tricky for the following reasons. Vinly shrinks with temperature. So the cushion is smaller than the plastic. I can use a heat gun to soften it up but I need an adhesive that will bond and hold fairly quickly, while I soften up the next area and work my way around until its repaired. Any suggestions on what adhesive to use ? Or just thoughts in general. |

Re: What kind of adhesive? OEM Seat
I have always used 3M Scotch-Weld. It is a Nitrile HP rubber adhesive that permanently bonds leather, rubber, vinyl, etc. I apply it to both sides and let it set a minute or two and then I stick it together and hold it or tape it down for a few hours. It will set fairly quickly, but will not completely harden for several hours.

Re: What kind of adhesive? OEM Seat
My seat back came apart like that when I first got the cart in 2013. I used contact cement to glue the back to the backplate. Then, because the cushion has shrunk like you described, I picked up some 1/2" nylon rope from Ace and used my glue gun to glue it in place. You start at the bottom middle and glue the end in place. You will add glue and press it down to fill the gap and go all the way around the seat back. See picture. It is not a great pic but you can see it. I have done this for several members with seats like that at the club. It works on the bottom cushion as well. Three of these repairs are 3 yrs old and still holding well and one of them is a maintenance cart at the club.
