Handle off forward/reverse switch
Hello folks!
So I have a 1985 club car ds, I’m trying to take off the forward reverse switch and can’t figure out how to get the handle off. I only seen one screw(green arrow) on the handle which I unscrewed. I’ve tried to gently wedge a crow bar and pull it off but it just ends up pulling the other end (I circled in yellow) of the switch post in to the switch with the pressure like there’s a spring and I’m afraid of breaking it so I stopped lol. I see a nut on the lever do I loosen that too? Any help is appreciated thank you. |

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
Yours is stuck apparently. That screw should be it... did you try some oil or wd-40 and working it back and forth?

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
Yep. Like Luke said, should come right off but it's probably been on there a LONG time.

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
I gave it a good spray with some wd40 last night and let it soak overnight. I’ll give it another go when I get home and see if that worked. Hopefully that did it, thank you guys!

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
The one on my cart was the same way. Ended up taking a small die grinder an cutting a few slots it an spraying with WD 40 an let is set. That didn’t work. Ending up cutting it completely off the shaft.

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
See if you can'y get some needle nosed vice grips behind it and use a small flat pry bar.
Just curious. Are you trying to save the whole switch, the knob or both? |

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
If you are planning on replacing the entire unit and based on the picture you should, cut slits in the side of the handle and break that thing off.

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
Still stuck :( So I guess cutting it off it is heh. I tried using the crow bar and vice grips but noting, not even a small give! I can’t believe how welded together it is. Well thank you all for the suggestions :) was worth a shot.

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
Never seen one stuck that bad.
Are you sure you took the screw all the way out, not just loose? |

Re: Handle off forward/reverse switch
It’s gonna need some persuasion. Are you replacing the FNR switch? A little massage in the right place with a hammer will get the handle, but you might not have much of a switch left afterwards.
