Lynx won't go
'01 DS Lynx ...... before pulling batteries, I labeled everything and took pics to reassemble correctly. After reinstalling she will not do anything. I have checked and double checked my connections and verified with pics. Since Battery showed 50+ volts and 57+ while charging, I assume batteries ARE connected correctly. Checked at solenoid, same thing.
1. What route does the juice flow? I guess I need to find where it stops or what locations to check where there SHOULD be juice. 2. Is there any way to 'jump' or bypass any components (FNR, etc) to narrow down the problem. 3. Any help/suggestion are appreciated. 4. I suspect the go pedal is tied in somehow ...... how/what do I check on it? |

Re: Lynx won't go
Are you getting a "click" at the solenoid when you depress the pedal with the key on and direction selected? (Is this a sepex or series cart? (Run/Tow switch and Rocker Fwd/Rev or a FNR Handle?)

No click or any sound. Series with FNR.

Re: Lynx won't go
Update ...... just got to thinking, I did not recall any clicking noise, but can not say I specifically did NOT hear anything. I went back out to recheck it. Turned it on, put in reverse and it clicked, then jumped back just a little, but would not go forward. Reverse again but nothing, forward nothing, reverse again and it jumped backwards. Apparently the FNR is messed up. I unbolted it earlier today to see if HD, it is not. Something may have come loose in it. Got a HD on order anyway, so will find out in a few days.

Re: Lynx won't go
(Cart jacked up, key On, FNR Lever in Fwd, and pedal depressed)
Take your DVM and run the red probe to the Main Pack Pos and then the black probe to the small post with the yellow wire on it. (small post - not the big post with the yellow cable) and see if you get pack voltage (If not, the OBC is bad and you lost the Neg). If so, move your black probe over to the Main Pack Neg and the red probe to the other small post on the solenoid which also has a small red wire and white/black. With the key On, FNR in Fwd and Go Pedal depressed, you should get pack voltage (If not, you lost one of those inputs and we need to trace back and find the culprit). If you do have them both and it does not click, you have a failed solenoid. If your solenoid is bad, you will get a momentary bump when you depress the pedal from the pre-charge resistor feeding the capacitors in the controller. |

Re: Lynx won't go
It could be, but you will know when you do the test. Permissive's are key On, Go Pedal depressed, and FNR in F or R. It is a set of switches that supply current to the Positive side of the solenoid thru the white/black wire (which is on the small post as I described in the procedure). Then the Negative is supplied through the Yellow wire to the other side of the solenoids' small post.

Re: Lynx won't go
OK, got her going. One of the small wires on the FNR had come loose. I saw it yesterday when reinstalling the FNR and had tried it plugged/unplugged, forward and reverse, but no go. But later last night it would go backwards(seemed strange). After removing the FNR this morning it still would not go forward, plug the wire back together and WHOA ...... she goes!
Thanks for all the tips. Little by little, it (knowledge) seems to be coming together |
