Default New Batteries, Charger stopped working

So I recently replaced my 5year old batteries with a new set of Trojans on my 2008 Club Car Precedent.

After replacing the batteries and wiring up exactly like the old set, the charger will not charge them.

Luckily the new batteries (4x12v) where charged when I purchased them. The golf cart drives well and the batteries have been holding their charge much better then the old ones. However, I'm afraid to keep driving before sorting out this charging issue.

Currently the voltmeter is showing 47.8v across the pack.

When I plug the charger in, it clicks on and begins to hum like normal. The gauge on the charger does does a slight tick but stays at zero. I've left it running overnight a number of times with no change.

I've gone through all the wiring and is exactly like it was on the previous pack. I've also checked the fuse and it looks intact.

I'm currently reading various charging issue threads on here and just wondering if someone has been through this before.

I'm gonna try resetting the OBC in the meantime.

DANGER ... DANGER ... DANGER !!!

Your new battery pack at 47.8 volts is now at just less than a 40% state of charge. That is not healthy for a new battery pack ... or an old one. See the attached state of charge chart below for reference.

You will certainly want to park this buggy until you get this problem sorted out.

Perhaps post a photo or two showing your wiring hook up and some of the BGW members familiar with Club Car's might be able to comment.

What you discribed sound just like someone changing batteries and losing the wire that goes from the charger port to the main pack positive post. Look down around the batteries for the wire.

If the wires are there and terminated correctly, then yes, the next step is to bypass the OBC and see if it charges, which will prove the OBC to be good or bad.

Hey guys, the positive charger wire is required for the charger relay to click.

The negative charger wire is not so that is the wire that should be checked to make sure it did not come unplugged from the single quick connect terminal near the OBC.

Otherwise as mentioned the next step would be to connect the 10ga negative wire from the charger receptacle directly to pack negative to by-pass the SCR inside the OBC that controls the charging current.

Once you get your new batteries charging properly, you will likely want to break them in gently. Here is some valuable advice for breaking in a new set of batteries: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-break-in-.html

Some of the really important advice can be summarized by these few lines:

"Most importantly, NEVER run the battery pack down below 50% of capacity throughout their entire life. Never leave the batteries in a state of discharge for extended periods of time. Recharge the pack every 2 weeks if the cart is sitting idle or in storage. And when in doubt, recharge it."

From the back of the charge receptacle:

Gray wire is plugged into the back of the OBC
Red Wire is connected to the pack Positive terminal
Black wire is connected to the pack Negative terminal

What is strange is the charger was working fine prior to the battery swap.
