Default Voltage reducer drawing current.

I have a voltage reducer connected across the entire battery pack running through the key switch to a fuse panel on my cart. I pulled both the reducer negative wire, and the pack negative wire last night in order to reset the OBC, but noticed when making the negative wire connection from the reducer I got a decent spark. My limited electrical knowledge tells me there is something drawing current on the batteries if you get a spark while connecting wires. The key switch was off, and the accessories were off as well. I've been running it like it is all summer with no issues on the accessories. Does a reducer have a constant amp draw on it, or am I overlooking something here?

The reducers usually have capacitors that generate a decent spark when you first connect them and they charge.

One way to avoid the spark is to introduce a resistance in line with the converter positive power wire (the negative should be on Controller B- if using an OBC) before you connect to the battery post.

You can use a 40w or 60w incandescent light bulb (old school inefficient ones), just touch the base of the bulb on the battery post and the wire on the light bulb threads.

After about 5-10 seconds the converter capacitors should be charged so you can move the wire to the battery post without a spark.
