Precedent pedal group maintenance
Like most, I purchased my cart used from a dealer who bought out a fleet from some golf course. After 2 seasons of using it, I recently started to hear some squeaking from the go pedal. After removing the pedal group, I was shocked to see the condition of the assembly. It appeared not to have seen the light of day since it left the factory. I wish I was smart enough to take pictures, but the entire assembly was encrusted in caked-on sand. The assembly is mostly aluminum and was also badly oxidized and any lubricrant in the main shaft where the pedals pivot was long gone.
2 hours worth of scraping, sanding, buffing, etc. got the assembly in a reasonable condition. Also lubed up the main shaft and all moving components. Vacuumed out the area where the assembly lives and no more squeak. Take this as a word to the wise. We always hear about checking the rear end lube, greasing the front end and monitoring battery levels. Make sure you check the pedal group as well. Not sure what it costs to replace but it sure looks expensive. |

Re: Precedent pedal group maintenance
they are potent on price, but usually repairable by the method you listed. I've never seen one 2 hours deep in crud though. Usually there are a few springs that you can buy as a kit that help repair them..

Re: Precedent pedal group maintenance
Good info!
My concern is... what type of lube did you use? (dry moly lube... I hope!) And... if not a dry lube, you know that you'll have to clean it up again, right? |

It's not a hard task to get to the pedals, but something I'd rather not do too many times. Now that the cart is in private use and doesn't get much use off road, I expect that it'll be a very long time before I need to dive in again. |
