Default Worth upgrading to heavy duty rear springs? Club Car DS

So while installing my lift kit I noticed most of the bushings in the leaf springs are shot.

I can get a replacement bushing set for 15 or heavy duty springs for 80...

I don’t plan on putting a rear seat and wondering if it’s worthwhile getting them or just sticking with the stock springs with new bushings.

I say just just the opposite....no rear seat, no heavy duty springs needed imo. I haul 100s of lbs of feed and a passenger with stock springs and never had an issue

I have a Club Car President. I asked my used car dealer about heavy duty springs when I purchased a rear seat from him. He talked me out of it. Said to try the rear seat without the HD springs and see what I thought. Turns out he was right. I did not see a reason to get the HD springs so I passed on them.

I agree. Though I like firm handling. I have a rear seat and have installed 4 leaf HD springs. They are too hard. Even with 4, 200#+ passengers.

Heavy duty springs will make it ride like it’s on rocks. Unless you keep an extra 400lbs in the back all the time, there’s really not much need for the HD springs.

As with many things, HD springs have their usage and what is for some is not for everyone. Dual Action springs are a great alternative to traditional HD springs. Me personally, I have HD springs on all but 2 of my carts (primarily because they are all lofted). I love them and I guess I am just a tuff @ss SOB as they do not bother me one teenie weenie bit. I do not however like it when one of the two that do not have them rubs when I load down the back, but since it only rubs once and a great while, I have not changed them.

This kinda reminds me of another scenario. I have a 1 ton Ram daully and on that forum there were some panty waste crying about the 'ride'. I could not help but laugh at him and told him I thought the ride was excellent ...... for a 1 TON HD DIESEL TRUCK, and suggested he might should have bought a CAR ..... lol

A lot of your spring sets are shackled below the axle, you can move them to the top.
