Default One battery gets really hot

I have 4 brand new Trojan 12v batteries. After a ride, the one battery that has the 12v circuit attached to it has really hot terminals. The other batteries are fine. No 12v accessories but headlights. Any ideas?

Make sure the battery cable is installed first and your 12v accessory ring connector is on top.

You should also consider a 48v->12v reducer if you use your accessories more than occasionally.

The cable terminals are installed in that order. I should add that this happens even if I am not using the lights. I know heat generally means resistance, so what else has current flowing through the 12v side while underway? The FNR switch and key switch?

Just a thought....
Try disconnecting the 12v accessories from the battery in question, run the cart. If the battery cable is in good order and the battery continues to heat up without the additional accessory wires this may be a defective battery.

Are the cables new or old?
Have you checked the voltage on the batteries before and after driving?

You could try swapping a battery to that position see if the problem stays or moves. Or try swapping same length cables just to see if the problem moves with the cables or stays with the battery

Read the attached Trojan document about bad cable connections creating excessive heat.
