Default How can I tell if this free cart is worth rebuilding?

I recently acquired a 2006 DS 48v cart. It is well used. Has no batteries. Some of the battery cable leads are corroded off but the rest of the cart seems intact.

How can I tell if the motor is any good? And what other parts should I check before deciding if the cart is worth my time and money to rehab?

Just looking for some general guidance.

Thank you.

If it was free. And it is a DS. And the frame is good. It is worth fixing.

There are 2 types of motors. Does the cart have a run/tow switch under the seat?

The frame and all the body seem intact. It has a tilt dump bed that is okay. I understand that at one time it was the golf course superintendents cart.

Yes, it has a run/tow toggle switch. The fwd.rev is also a toggle.

Is it a "Carryall" or a regular cart with a dump body on the back? Most regular carts don't have a "dump" body.

It's a regular cart with an aftermarket dump body on the back. It will probably clean up okay. Need to repaint the frame but the alum body is okay.
