Default Charger wont shut off after installing voltage reducer.

Recently installed a Reliance 13-030 voltage reducer/converter on my 2004 Club Car DS IQ 48V. Everything works great except it seems that my PowerDrive 2 charger does not shut off and the batteries are boiling. You can hear a steady boil as well as feel the heat coming off the batteries. I wired the trigger wire so that the reducer is off although there is a constant live 12v wire to provide radio memory (I am not using this wire so there is no draw). Not sure what the problem is. I thought of adding a 48v relay to power on the reducer when the key is turn on. Any thoughts? Thanks.

How old are the batteries? Did you make any other changes at the time you installed the reducer?
How long has the charger been running before you noticed a problem?
Whenever the batteries are disconnected the OBC gets reset and will run a longer charge cycle to determine the overall state of charge of the pack. A longer than usual charge cycle is somewhat normal for the first cycle. At worst, the OBC should time out and turn off the charger at 16 hours.

Where did you connect the reducer negative?
It should be connected to the B- terminal at the controller so current used by the reducer is accounted for in the OBC memory.

How long has the charger been running before you noticed a problem? Charger was plugged in overnight. In excess of 12 hrs. I can't say it has been plugged in a straight 16 hrs.

Is it possible for just the charging function of OBC to be bad? Everything else is functiong correctly.
