Default Club Car Precedent randomly goes into limp mode

Hi everyone, my wife has a 2005 Precedent rebuilt and re-titled as a 2008. It has 4-12 volt batteries, Trojan t-1275. This morning when she backed out of garage and tried to drive it, it was in limp mode. She pulled into the driveway and turned it off the key. I checked voltage and all batteries were about 12.8 volts. We turned it on and it ran fine, no limp mode. She left to go to the range and about 1/2 mile from home it went into limp mode and she came home in limp mode. The battery meter indicated the batteries were down about 70%. I again checked the voltage and all batteries were between 12.64 and 12.7 volts. I turned the key on and the battery meter on the dash indicated the 70% discharge for about 1 second and then went to full charge. I then drove the cart for 3-4 miles at full speed and it never went into limp mode. I again checked voltage and all batter were above 12.5 volts. This problem started about a week ago on the golf course. It appears the limp mode is cured by turning the key off and on. Anybody have any ideas what is causing this?

Try the speed sensor test and see if it fails. If it does, replace the speed sensor.

Sounds like a sticking solenoid or loose connection from what I've read on this form.

I have done the speed sensor test and it appears to be working ok. I just replaced the solenoid and still have the problem.

The only other two things would be the MCOR or the controller unless the speed sensor is working sporadically.

Where did you get the speed sensor?

The speed sensor came with cart when we bought it from a Club Car Dealer.

You said that turning the the key switch OFF/ON resets the problem, so it may be the more rare 3rd possible cause of the limp mode "Main Driver ON".

Next time the cart is in limp mode, stop the cart and listen very carefully to the Solenoid when You turn the key OFF to see if you hear it disengage.

By the way, what solenoid did you put in there and did You replace the diode on the solenoid coil?

I ordered a solenoid from Amazon, 10L0L 101908701 Golf Cart 36/48 Volt Albright Solenoid Fits Club Car DS & Precedent 2000 & Up, Electric Carts Years 2000 & Up, Replaces 1019087-01.101908701.

I did not replace the diode on the solenoid coil but there is a diode, at least I think a diode, between the contact on the solenoid.

Before installed the new diode the cart was going through battery power very quickly. I took the old diode apart and the contacts were not burnt. However, before the new solenoid it did not go into limp mode, it just ran down the batteries quickly.

I also installed a resistor on the new solenoid.

I attached an image of the solenoid, I think.

Sergio, sorry, should read "before I installed the new solenoid the cart was going through power very quickly".

Just took the cart for a drive. It ran fine for about a half of a mile so I pulled over and came to a complete stop. I turned the key off and waited a few second and turned it on. The cart was in limp mode. I turned the key off and on several more times and it is still in limp mode. The battery meter went down one bar. The solenoid disengages as soon as the cart comes to a stop. There is no sound when the key is turned off.

When I got home I felt the solenoid, the controller, the cables and the terminals, and the computer, nothing is hot. The motor is warm but not hot.
