New cables
Well I just finished making and installing 2 gauge cables on my 2003 DS. I plan to replace my batteries in a month or two and wanted to get new cables in place before changing batteries. One step at a time. I did not re-install the cover over my controller. With 2 ga cables it was just too tight a fit. I never painted my cables this time they are all black.
I think it may be in my head but she sure seems to run better. |

Re: New cables
I'm sure you did. The energy is being delivered more efficiently and with less resistance... And you would feel it best of everyone as you drive it daily....

Re: New cables
I hope your battery terminals didn’t have ANY corrosion on them. Even the tiniest amount will quickly spread to new cable ends. Then you spend more time cleaning the ends before putting them on the new batteries.
If getting new batteries soon anyway I don’t see the point putting new cables on the old ones just to take them right back off. |

Re: New cables
It's going to be April or May before I change batteries. I'm going with ranger 160's. BTW it took 13 feet to do my cart.
I cleaned everything today and will do it again when I change batteries. Only found one spot of beginning corrosion. I keep them clean and services every month anyway. |

Re: New cables
Sounds good!
13 feet sounds about right for stock configuration. I rearrange all the batteries on mine to cut down on cable length. I use just a hair under 8’ to do batteries to controller/solenoid. Don’t usually do motor cables unless theyre really crusty. Makes a difference to save a few feet of cable when you’re doing multiple carts. |

Re: New cables
It seems that your not accomplishing anything by not doing the cables to the motor.

Re: New cables
The motor cables are not in a corrosive environment as long as you are not changing the size they should last a real long time.

Re: New cables
If they’re not damaged I don’t need to replace them. I run every cart for 30 minutes then check the cables and terminals for hot spots. Motor cables are never warm except for right at the motor, because they’re transferring the heat from the motor, which tells me they’re not restricting any energy flow.
