Filter skin over motor
Has anyone ever thought about putting a K&N breathable filter cover over the motor to keep it dry and it would still be able to breathe. Is there to much heat there for that. Just a idea.

Re: Filter skin over motor
Not me. I want them cool as they can get. And honestly, any water will damage an electrical motor and a K&N is very breathable and will not prevent water intrusion....

I guess I would have to see how hot the motor got then maybe test it on a muffler at that temp to see if it melts. I also had one of these on me previous truck never had to clean the filter ever in 14 years just the skin.

Re: Filter skin over motor
Looking at the positioning of the wires on the FSIP motor it looks impossible to get a prefilter on it. That sucks because I think it would have kept dust and water out and still let the motor breathe. They do make wraps though so i am not completely done with this yet. I don’t think it has to wrap around the entire motor to repel water. The filters are not submergible. There is a approximately 1’’ ring around the motor that looks like its not sealed to good that’s where the a1 a1 or f1 f2 wires connect.

Re: Filter skin over motor
What's that bag made out of? If it's a wire mesh I wouldn't do it. You don't want any type of conductor touching the motor studs. Otherwise, I think it's a great idea considering you have a vented motor. Especially in dusty conditions.
