2012 CC DS Bypass Help
Thanks for the new membership! Does anyone have a video or concise pictures on bypassing the OBC on 2012 DS IQ cart? Looking at the cart I bought, the black wire from the charging port has already been completed. The charger will only charge for about ten minutes then shuts off. The battery light comes on for
15 seconds then off for 6 seconds then repeats. I've just purchased a DPI Accusense charger so I may bypass the OBC. I have unplugged the harness to the OBC, joined the light blue and the white wires, unplugged the grey wire. Tried the charger and nothing. Reconnected the grey and the charger hums for a second then off. plugged the OBC plug back in and it goes back to the same as before. Charges for ten minutes, battery lights on, etc. Thank you!!! P.S The voltage while charging was 56.0 VDC |

Re: 2012 CC DS Bypass Help
I am confused. Are you trying it right now with your Powerdrive charger or the DPI?
The gray sense wire is only needed for the OBC to sense the voltage in the batteries and close in the relay on the OEM charger. |

Re: 2012 CC DS Bypass Help
To completely bypass it and use the OEM charger you need to run both the black 10g wire and the grey "sense" wire from the back of the charger receptacle that are going to the OBC and run them directly to the pack negative battery post for testing purposes (This is a manual operation now and will not cut off.) For permanent bypassing you also need to connect the Blue and White wires together on the Harness side of the OBC 6-pin connector with a paperclip or stiff piece of wire or cut them and connect them together with a butt connector.
As noted above, the gray sense wire will not be required for the DPI so you can roll it up and ty-wrap it out the way. |

Re: 2012 CC DS Bypass Help
Does it matter what side of the harness wires? and should it be left unplugged?

Re: 2012 CC DS Bypass Help
Yes, if you are permanently bypassing the OBC then on the factory (cart side) harness (where the OBC plugs into), you should jumper/connect the Blue and White wires. Leave the OBC unplugged from the carts harness.

OOps, I was on the other side of the harness. Oh well, I will try that tomorrow. So blue & white on obc side, and no grey wire and I should be ready to go with the DPI? Thanks!

If you are going to run the DPI, be sure it is a stand alone model and not the one that runs off an OBC. They make both models for the Club Car. |

Re: 2012 CC DS Bypass Help
Correct! The model charger is for no OBC. Thank you so much for your help! By the way, your cart description sounds awesome! Great site and wonderful people! Hopefully I'll get this situation resolved. Thanks again!
