Ok

got my purple motor installed today and.....

well diddnt get to do alot of testing

not much more speed went from 16 to 17mph

it does seem to have more torque but its hard to tell

so i guess to get the most out of it i need to get a controller

what is going to be my best buy?

i just need to beat that darn yamaha

his gained about 2-3 mph and it seems like a hole lot of torque

he is very happy, me not so much

"Yeah your post the oher day got me scared so i called rich at PQ to make sure i wasnt gettin a speed motor he reassured me that ill be pleased with it and said if im not to call all i can say is they are good to work with but be warned if you call plan on being on the phone for an hour your brain will fill up"

Before you do anything I'd call Rick at PQ and see what he says. I was told to expect a 20 to 25% gain when I did my motor which is what I got. If you had 16MPH before you should expect 19.2 or better, not 17MPH... It's time to call and see what they do to make you happy! If it was me I wouldn't be happy with those results AT ALL since a good controller and a set of 4 gauge cables would have given you more torque and at least that extra MPH!

If your running 54 volts, I think thats what you said in beginning, I find it hard to believe that you are only doing 16 MPH, even with the stock motor. I was doing that in my 36V cart when it was stock, before upgrading everything. You may want to take some voltage readings at different points like cables back at motor and just make sure you don't have a bad cable somewhere.....those speeds just dont seem right.
Is your stock motor shorter in length than the one he sent. If so, you would see much better results having that one sent back and rewound...if this is the case, ask them if thats an option, it was for me.
The stock 36/48V motor is 8" in case length, while a 48V standard is 9 1/2 in length. If your stock one is of the 8" type, great candidate to be rewound with great results.
Sounds like you are going through what I did with the motors but I was warned by Robbie that I would not be happy with the first motor, so that is why he offered to rewind my stock motor for the cost of shipping only. Check your stock motor length...I hope you saved the box it was shipped in

the motors are the same length, i believe

when we took the stock one out we stood them on end and compared them
to see if there was any diffrence

im not putting it down yet

one trip down the road and back may not have been enough for the old CC

but the yamaha, wow big diffrence

his gps said 19 mph but im sure its faster than that

more like 20-23

could i have messed up the controller with the higher voltage?

i posted a vid of the yami in the vids thread

most of them before the new motor

thanks for the help

52 volts on a 48 volt pack is nothing out of the norm. If thats what you mean by "higher voltage" then NO. Thats not any different than it rolled out of the factory.

If you thought you put another battery in there on top of the 48 and see what happens and it didn't work then Yes, very possible it messed up your contoller.

I have 2 PQ motors and I am happy with both.
I published the results of the change out here some months ago.
I have no association with PQ other than a user.
PQ seems to be solid !
I am not suprised that they are Hiding in plain sight,
since as a user they could loose their membership for pushing there product here
(even if they were a Sponser but of course they are not and never will be)
.

What am I missing, why would they never be a sponsor?
