Has anyone tried the unit in this video?

I'd love a Victron but honestly can't justify the expense. At under $40 it seems like a good deal for most of the same functionality (less the Bluetooth connectivity, customer support, build quality, etc). What size shunt would I need? Seems that the Amazon seller only has the 100 and 350 amp rated shunts but looking on AliExpress I see it offered with a 500a shunt.

Thoughts?

Looks great! I have many of them in use. Just be sure the shunt has the charger side connected to it or thru it or the Battery Fuel gauge (small battery symbol on the bottom) will not refill when you charge and in a few days will alarm thinking you are low. The shunt will account for the current going out, but will not detect it being replenished if it does not see the charger current.

Do noit know anything about that one. I have Victrons. 350a is probably all you will ever see/need, but I have 500's on mine so I have everything covered.

I'd be suspicious about the units longevity or accuracy but for that price it looks the goods. When you get it up and running check it against a known good meter and just apply that difference each time to get a more accurate reading. Just be aware that in that video he's not comparing apples with apples. He quotes the price of the BMV712 but his unit compares with the BMV700 which is quite a bit cheaper. All the same you'd get six of these for the price of a BMV700. It really is a case of you gets what you pay for. I'd rather one of those that just a cheap voltmeter that connects directly to the batteries.

Yawood - definitely a good point about checking the accuracy against a meter. Ultimately, for my budget the alternative is just a plain digital voltage display so this is the far better option but I'll be tempering expectations as the "you get what you pay for" rule is certainly in effect. I'll start a new thread and review the unit when it comes in.
