Mounting a seed spreader on Front of DS
I was wondering if anyone here has mounted an electric seed spreader to the front of their buggie and if so how did you do it?
I was thinking either a front hitch or an ATV type rack on the front. |

Re: Mounting a seed spreader on Front of DS
Here is something what I am thinking of, this is a rack mount, they also make hitch mounts, was thinking of putting a receiver on the front of the DS but have not found one yet.

I'm not trying to discourage you from what you want to do, but why not a pull behind broadcast spreader?

I hear you, I was thinking the same thing. Pros are no 12v power usage for battery drain and no mounting issues as I have a rear hitch. The pros to the front mount are visibility - no neck strain, being able to adjust the gate while you drive, being able to turn it on and off easily and seeing how much material is being spread and how much is left and they dont tip over as easy as the tow behind tend to.

Ok. Understood. I'm thinking of stuff blowing into the cart, fertilizer causing rust etc.
Several people in here have mounted receiver hitches to the front of their carts. Search that. |

Re: Mounting a seed spreader on Front of DS
The Jake's long travel lift kit has a 2" receiver hitch integrated into the front lift kit but it's pricey. I'm sure you could make something. Also they make a front rack for the club car ds for sporting clays, maybe could mount it to this? Google image search "club car front rack"

I've been contemplating the same setup and for the same reasons you mention. I have a Marathon with a beefy tow pin hole available in front. I'm going to weld a steel sleeve and platform to fit with tight tolerance and a pin utilizing that same hole.

Re: Mounting a seed spreader on Front of DS
What about weight of the cart as the
wheels run over the freshly spread seed ? I can see 2 "rut rows" where the cart drove and the broadcast seed growth affected in this area. I know this is dependant on what is being spread. I found a 125lb Agri-Fab rear tow spreader used once for $42 with the metal gearing. Attach a 1972 Station wagon windshield wiper motor ($20) and delete the wheels and front mount to the golf cart, way cheaper than store bought. |

Primary use would be for larger seeds, fertilizer and lime that require deeper depth so not as much of an issue. Smaller seeds (brassicas, clover etc) would have to be hand spread as seeders just dont dontrol the rate very well IMO |
