Default Will batteries cause jerky acceleration?

I have a 2001 DS Club Car and I have been restoring it after it has sit for a number of years.

I installed a new motor, Alltrax Controller, solenoid and new cables.

The cart is a bit jerky when i press on the gas peddle. Also I am not getting the speed or power up hills I was expecting after the increased HP and larger controller.

I suspect my old batteries may be the issue, they charge pretty well but the charge isn't lasting like it should. They meter drops quickly compared to how it used to last.

Does this sound right or is it likely the MCOR?

If that is a Series system, it sure will jerk when you drop load onto the motor as in taking off from a stop. Get your DVM out, charge the pack fully, wait 12 hours and check the voltage. Should be 50.93 minimum to be at 100% SOC.

Also, leave the meter hooked up and watch how it drops when you take off and climb hills.

What drive system is on your cart? Is it the Regen 2 or a series car? Regardless, with the Alltrax you can plug your laptop into the controller and use it as a diagnostic machine. If it's an MCOR issue, you'll be able to monitor the throttle percentage and see if it's erratic. You'll also be able to monitor the battery voltage.

After letting the charger run its course I unplugged it. I checked the voltage later and it is 49.7 V.

I have to get some alligator clips to measure the voltage while driving it.

David,

It is a series car. I did not know I could plug into the controller. Have to check into that. Sounds like it will produce a lot of info!

It can if it's one of the new Alltrax SR controllers. Is that what you've got or do you have a different model?

Yep it'll work. Download the Alltrax Toolkit. You'll need a printer cable and a windows based PC and you're good to go. If you need me to walk you through it I will. Call me anytime this evening if you'd like. 706-431-3917. Download the toolkit here...

Looks like you are having a battery issue.... Continue to check as David instructed as that will help prove this diagnosis.

I had the batteries tested and they were definitely not performing as well as they should. Got a new set of Trojan 875's and the speed and torque up hills is much improved.

I am still noticing some jerky action upon acceleration.

Back to the MCOR. If I check the voltage while accelerating what would be a symptom of a bad MCOR...fluctuating voltage?

Thx
