Default Club Car DS rear end noise

Just picked up a WELL USED 2006 CC . AQ0640. It does run. Checking it out to day. It has a noise in the rear when driving. I can push it and hold my hand on the motor and feel it also. Pulled left axle an bearing felt ok. Could not get right axle out. Need to get a slide hammer. I ran it (up on stands) with the left axle out and still hear it. We’re do I go next. Speed sensor coming from site sponsor so it pushes easy. I did change the oil in it. What came out had no signs of metal at all. Put 85/90w back in it.

Sounds like bad motor bearing or loose splines in the motor coupler to the trans input shaft.
Pull the motor, clean it out and check the brushes for wear.
Check the splines in the coupler and on the input shaft for wear.

Brushes for the IQ motors are kinda pricey, but check with David at Revolution. He can get you the right brushes that will last if you decide to replace them.
Get a motor centering kit and that should take care of the noisy splines. It comes with a bearing, so be sure to install the new bearing before putting the motor back together.

Terry,

I recommend the motor centering kit. It's almost certainly either chattering on the teeth or a worn out bearing. A new motor centering kit will fix both of these issues. Now would be a good time to order a high speed magnet for that motor as well, since the magnet has to come off to change the bearing.

Thanks Guys. Have never pull a motor of a cart. What is the easiest way to install this centering kit.

It just slides onto the shaft in the differential where the motor mounts up. Pull the motor off and install the centering kit in this order...

Smooth washer, spring, splined washer, tapered bushing. Then re-install the motor with these pieces on the shaft. It will apply constant pressure on the motor armature to keep it from chattering. The bearing install is a totally separate job as the bearing is on the opposite end of the motor.

Thanks, Tahoe an Fairtax. Will pull motor tomorrow. I will wait after I pull motor to order parts. Hopefully that is all I will need. Just want to make sure I double wrench the terminals on the motor. This cart as been around salt water. Going out now to soak them good with PB Blaster.

Where can I get this "centering kit" I have a 2002 ds and will have Motor off to replace the brushes soon. If this can help prevent some wear before I upgrade to the alltrax controller I'm into it!
