Default Battery acid corrosion removal?

Any tips/tricks/suggestions for removing battery acid corrosion and cleaning the frame around the battery trays? I've heard baking soda?

When cleaning the frame pressure wash it first to get any caked on dirt and grime off. Then mix some baking soda with enough warm water to create a paste like consistency and spread it on the battery tray and areas that have come into contact with acid. Let it sit for 10 minutes or so or until there's no more noticable chemical reaction between the acid and baking soda (bubbling) then rinse it with water.

Repeat until there's no more reaction.

Yup, what NCPW said.

Then as a GMP (Good Maintenance Practice): Monthly check your water levels to be 1/4" and no more then 1/2" above the plates.

Only use distilled water for refilling.

Mix up a 10/1 water/baking soda mixture and poor over the pack to neutralize any acid precipitation and after 10 mins, rinse off with hose water and this will help prevent corrosion and keep your battery compartment clean.

Easiest to get a spay on rinse off battery corrosion cleaner.
There are many available. I use a Deka product. You can scrub between application and rinse if needed.
Also be sure to wear googles and old cloths if pressure washing acid deposits.

FYI the carb soda (baking soda) or battery corrosion cleaner is an alkali (the opposite to an acid) so that is why it reacts with the acid in the corrosion and bubbles away as it neutralises the acid. The neutralised corrosion can then be mechanically washed/scrubbed away.

As the others have said, any spillage will stain concrete. In fact if your battery acid leaks onto the concrete it will eat depressions in it because the concrete is alkali (from the lime in it) and will react with the spilled acid thus eating away at the concrete.

Just did mine, used baking soda to neutralize and a wire brush and wire wheel to clean the frame up, not perfect bug good enough and at temps in the teens here power washing was out.
Sprayed with self etching primer then brushed on some rust-oleum hammered, good stuff, happy with the results.

Once you have all the "GAK" cleaned off, completely "slather" (it really doesn't take much to do the slather part) your battery terminals (all metal exposed part) and .....very important....slather the terminal AND the inside of the connector, with this stuff.

Re-connect as normal and you will NOT have green gunk growing from your terminals......EVER!! (Ever if you slather it right)

I used this the last 3 years of my T-105's 6.5 years life and terminal cleaning was a thing of the past.

What this stuff does is keep the gassing that normally occurs when re-charging....keep the gas "stuff" away from the metal....which will cause corrosion. It's like wearing a garlic neckless when in vampire territory.
