Default Which battery charger

I'm helping a lady in the park I live in get a new battery charger. Her old one was stolen. She has a 2013 Precedent. One Club Car dealer wanted $600 for a charger. Another wanted $475.

Those prices seem really high to me. What would you all recommend?

You need a Powerdrive Charger (or equivalent) for that model or you would need to modify it a little bit to facilitate a new smart charger.

Look in the Carts and Parts area for a used Powerdrive http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/golf-carts-parts/

I was kinda thinking about a new smart charger. By modify do you mean the charger algorithm or the cart programming?

I'm possibly going through the same thing at the moment on a cart I got from an auction. To use a universal smart charger you have to rewire some of the cart to bypass the on board computer (there is a sticky in this section).

Thanks. I overlooked that sticky. That's just what I need.

Your Powerdrive is controlled by the OBC and is wired through your receptacle, harness and MPN cable.

The 10g black wire from the back of the receptacle and going to the OBC needs to be ran around the OBC and to the B- at the controller. If you look, you should be able to cut off this wire on both sides of the OBC and butt connect them together. If you do not want to cut the wires from the OBC, just run a new 10g wire from the receptacle back to B-.

Remove the Grey Sense wire and roll it up out the way.

On the Harness (cart) side of the 6-pin connector for the OBC, install a firm insulated jumper between the Blue wire and the White wire. You can also cut these two wires and butt connect them together.

After that, you can completely remove the OBC from the cart or leave it in place.

Note if you run a "new" 10g wire from the receptacle to B- and install the insulated jumper at the Blue/White wire connections, this will allow you to completely remove the working OBC and sell it in the market.

If you want just the charger replacement, I have the power drive I used to use before my obc went out.

Thanks all. I'm glad to know how to by-pass the OBC, and thanks for letting me know about the used charger. However, My lady had committed to spending almost $500 for a new factory charger, and she doesn't want to go back on her commitment.

8-point's is a factory charger.... And that is way too high for an OEM Powerdrive. Someone is taking her to the cleaners....

That's what I thought and why I got involved.
