Which side do you wire the switch up to?

Something like this from Littelfuse should suffice. It is rated at 15A @ 24V so it should handle 7.5A @ 48V which is as much as the reducer is capable of pulling. Certainly, I would not use anything lighter duty.

The one I showed above is rated for 30 amps @ 125 volts.

Good point yawood for making sure it is heavy duty enough.

Be sure to put a fuse between the battery positive and your switch. Something in the 10-15 amp range should be fine I would think.

The relay is like an electric switch powered by the key switch. Positive of relay to cold side of key switch, negative to cart negative. The other 2 wires are for you reducer. You can either use the negative wire that would go to the reducer, or the positive wire. Go from reducer to one side of the relay to either positive or negative depending on which wire you want to switch. The other one would go from reducer to either negative or positive source. Usually the relay will have 4 spade connections 2 smaller and 2 larger. The small ones are to operate the relay, the larger ones are the on/off switch. Maybe this will help you picture it in you head.
