Default So heres a charge question

My charger does not have a timer. Lester II
I believe its been modified (previous owner wrote "HOT") because it never turns off

Now i see where you guys say these things charge for 12-16 hours...

lets say i go for a drive on mine, 17 miles, pack is down to 92%

I have a little maintenance charger i stick on it for a few days, it will go from 51 up to 58 volts and then drop back and float at 53.5

and if i decide im going to take a ride ill stick it on the hot charger for like 30 mins and it will charge at 63.1

Now my question is .. am i getting an actual full charge out of this thing?

Ive never had my big charger on this for more then 4 hours before and frankly i cant see myself leaving it on over night at 63 volts lol

You cannot charge this pack correctly using these 2 chargers. The pack never gets the correct amperage for the correct duration to fully recover. These batteries require a certain algorithm of replenishment. This is algorithm is partially determined by the battery pack feedback to the charger which tells it when to change to the next level/duration of charge until the pack reaches a set level of charge and amperage acceptance.

You may get the pack voltage to come up and you may get a ride but the batteries are not going to give you their fully potential performance or useful life span.

The bottom line is you need a good (smart) charger. I hope this helps

Can you give the exact model number on the charger?
What year is your cart? Does it have an OBC?

If that charger has been modified, then no it's not giving the batteries a proper charge.
Neither is your little maintenance charger.

Deep cycle batteries need a high current charge to prevent sulfation of the lead plates, and to cause cavitation of the electrolyte. Without this the plates will be damaged and shorten the life of the battery.
If you use the two as a pair, you are better off to use the Lester charger after your drive, to give them the high current they need. Determining how long to leave that running would be the tricky part, as that varies by how long the cart has been used and what brand of batteries you have.
After the batteries have had a run of the high current or "bulk charge", switching to the maintenance charger will provide the proper long term voltage needed to balance the cells.

It's a big topic and there's alot of info floating around on the net. Do some googling on it. Also find out exactly what your battery manufacturer recommends for charging. Some have different requirements than others, and it can make a difference in the longevity of your pack.

As the others stated, that is only a trickle type charger and not designed to correctly charge batteries, only maintain them.... If your current charger is not automated, then definitely time for a smart charger...

Its a lester 115 ac volt/60hertz/model 09695/ type 48lc25-8et/

And i knew i wasnt getting a full charge.. i felt like it never was for some odd reason

I have no problems with battery life being i have 8 6volts and the pack lasts for ever

I will have to look into a smart charger i guess and see what i can find for a decent price

Here is the best charger I know of https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...rger-13-18-amp and the best guy (David Hicks) to call and discuss any and all your goals and initiatives with..... He will guide you right, even if it is to another place or site. He truly wants to help you succeed and not just sell a part.

09695 is a Lestronic 2, 48V, 25 amp model.

Unless you have some serious huge capacity batteries, that thing is pretty much overkill. If the timer in that was removed then it's nothing at this point than a big 25 amp power supply. It will boil your batteries dry in a heart beat because the only way it will run is wide open. It will taper the charge current as the batteries charge, but it will never turn off on it's own, and due to the high output it will give them a fast bulk charge, but will not give them the correct taper or constant voltage needed for proper absorption charge.

Best bet is like they said, get a new smart charger. The Summit II is top of the line, but there are several other options that are a little more budget friendly if you just want simplicity.
