Mounting on board charger
I have a question about mounting an on board charger, I have a Lester summit 2 charger and made a bracket to mount it to in my cart. Do you guys just hard mount them to braces or do you put rubber isolation bumpers between the charger and the mounts? Without them it sets flat on the sheet metal mounting plate I made. With the rubber bushings it would sit about a 1/4" off the plate.

Re: Mounting on board charger
I mount mine with #10 self tapping screws right to the plate. I do not believe the rubber bushing would be an issue as long as you had a lock nut and bolt.

Re: Mounting on board charger
Leave it metal to metal for better heat transfer as chargers get pretty hot.
If You have any heat sink compound you can put between the charger and metal plate to improve the heat transfer as well. |

Re: Mounting on board charger
I not had a problem with either way. Lester doesn't call for a heat sink but that thick aluminum plate will make a good one. Also air exposure on the bottom side would allow the charger to dissipate heat.

Re: Mounting on board charger
Mount it straight to the plate. The plate will act as a heat sink.
Di-electric or silicone grease actually makes a great heat transfer medium. I use it all the time on ignition modules and other automotive parts that are required to be mounted on a heat sink. Probably not necessary on the charger since it has so many fins on it already, but it won't hurt. |

Re: Mounting on board charger
Used dielectric grease and bolted it right to the plate
