Default 1996 club car ds potentiometer

The potentiometer on my 97 club car ds recently seized up on me and I'm wondering what types of replacement there is out there for it? Looking for cheap options even if I have to rig something together

Is it a 96 or 97? Is it a pie shaped box or a box underneath?

Oops my bad it's a 97, one of the two years club car used the poor design of having the pot in a box near the pedal

Unfortunately the Potboxes were dicontinued a long time ago as were the parts. I have not seen any available in years. The MCOR conversion https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...conversion-kit is all that can be done unless you have surplus parts somewhere. If you call David, he will help you with it. Installation is not bad.

OK. The reason I asked is because I thought those were only on 95 and 96 models. Nole is correct about what you will have to do. I have a 95 with that pot box and will have to do the same if/when it messes up.

AM293201 - Pre-MCOR to MCOR4 conversion kit.

This kit will work on a car with an old multi-step potentiometer under the seat or a car with a pot-box under the floor like yours has.

So what you're saying is it would be possible for me to pick up a 5k potentiometer from like a surplus store and wire it in?

Yes, you can Frankenstein any ole 5k-0 pot box in to work. You just need to make the mount and the linkage work with the pedal. Many 0-5k 3 wire potentiometers offered on ebay are 0-5 or 5-0 depending upon which 2 wires are used. And some can be opened up and with a little soldering to move 1 wire changed from 0-5000 to 5000-0.
