Default Are all 2014 Precedent the same series?

I have a 2014 with serial # that starts with JE. My buddy just bought one with serial # that starts with JF. Are they both Sepex carts? He wants to upgrade the motor and controller like mine so want to ensure he gets the right stuff.

As always I appreciate all the support I receive here.

I don’t know Exactly what the prefixes mean, but a few people here do and hopefully they will chime in. There are two different chargers used on early 2014 models. Most have an ERIC charger made by Delta-Q. Some have the Powerdrive3 charger by Lester. The PD3 carts have an OBC, the ERIC carts do not have the OBC. This could be the difference between the two? The chargers are NOT interchangeable.

A Sepex motor cart will have a rocker switch Forward/Reverse switch.
A Series motor cart will have a big lever FNR switch.

If there is any doubt, remove the access panel in the bag well and look at the motor.
A Sepex motor will have F1, F2 labels on the field coil stud. will have two large wires going to the A1, A2 studs, and two smaller wires going to the F1, F2 studs.

A Series motor will have S1, S2 labels. And will have equal sized wires going to all 4 studs.

I have a 14 with the serial PH1404. It was part of a fleet in SC. It has the OBC and uses the PowerDrive 3 charger. It is a very early 14 so they converted to the non-OBC a little while after this. I guess they changed from PH to JE or JF after they removed the OBC. Not sure. Check out the pinned thread on serial numbers. It will probably help you.

The difference in serial numbers is illustrated here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...precedent.html in the 3rd post of your own thread from 2017.

All Precedents are sepex. Wait for CC experts to comment on upgrades in regards to IQ or Excel carts.

That was my post from awhile ago but does not say if it was different motors and controllers. Same charger but also Scotty already comfirmed they where the same. Thanks for responding

You (He) will have on there a Sepex motor and Excel controller, but if he upgrades it will not matter as whether an PH, JE, etc. it will still require a Sepex (Separately Excited) motor and it will utilize an Alltrax XCT controller. You can look over some possibilities here: https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/u...ages-precedent and look at individual items here: https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/c...rs-and-magnets

Thank you for contacting me about your friends cart.
While CC does make a few different Sepex drive systems these carts all use the same XCT controller with the same throttle program.
So he can get the same low price you did on your upgrade. Have a great weekend.

JE is the basic Precedent golf car. JF is exactly the same, except it has pin striping, 10" wheels, and a comfort grip steering wheel. It's considered the i2L trim level and is just a bit more fancy. They have identical drive systems.
