Troubleshooting, what next? 85’ club car ds
Hello folks! So I ran into the dreaded solenoid clicking issues. After reading some posts and few videos I did the solenoid fire check by applying jumping from the battery. The master solenoid fired off but no movement of the wheels. I just turned the key put it in forward I did not push the gas pedal. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to or not so just throwing that out there. Since the master fired I checked micro switches next. All clicked but one, changed that out. (It was not the master switch it was to a green wire). Tried the cart again and still nothing. What should I try next? The battery’s are good and I charged them all last night, shows 39.6volts. Is the order of the micro switches correct from the pics? So I’m stuck at what to test or look at next, any help is very much appreciated. Thank you!! Oops forgot to add this is a 85 club car ds.

Key switch on forward switch on stepping on foot feed the master fires first then the speed switches.Basicly the key sends the ground to the micro switche on forward reverse switch then the foot feed fires the solenoid off the hot wire on bottom of forward reverse switch .

Re: Troubleshooting, what next? 85’ club car ds
Ok so I went ahead and switched the green and red, I also checked the connections from your picture and everything looks matched up. The only one I wasn’t sure of is the yellow wire that said “to solenoid coil (negative)” so I included a pic where that one is connected. After I put everything back together the solenoids no longer click anymore. Now I just hear micro switches :( What should I try next? Thank you very much for the help.

The key switch feeds negative to the forward reverse micro switch then feeds all the solenoids on the negative side. The first microswitch fires the the master solenoid then the 4 speed microswitch fires the other solenoids.

Ok gotcha. So when the master solenoid microswitch was in the second position and I heard solenoid clicking, after switching it to the first position no solenoids are clicking at all. What would cause this? Thank you!

So since I’m hearing the solenoids fire when I do the jumping from the battery, could the solenoid still be bad? Do I have to unhook the bar that goes across all the solenoids and all wires to use the multimeter to test? Or is there a way to test without unhooking? I went ahead and ordered micro switches I guess I’ll just change them out to rule those out. Thank you!

So the negative small wire jumps to all five solenoids it gets it signal from the key switch to the forward reverse micro switch. To make sure get a jumper wire take it from the main pack negative to the small wire that jumps to all solenoid. Then try driving it see if the solenoids all click.Usually the master solenoid goes bad it fires every time you drive. You can move the cable from the stud to the buss bar copper but make sure you jack one rear wheel off ground then see if it drives.
