We were out on a cruise and the thing started to not respond to the throttle and it would stop, then go and put it in reverse and same thing. Long story short by steadily messing with it,it got us home. I got home and parked it and tried again and no throttle response so I changed the solenoid and the same thing no response so I changed the mcor and nothing. All this time I had it charged and then I try it the next day and it acts like nothing was ever wrong. What is my next option. The motor is just a few years old and the batteries date have a date from what I can tell but they aren’t but just a few years also. This thing has done this to us before but then it would start running like nothing was wrong. I am about to go nuts over this thing.

Could be a number of things. Usually the first place to start is batteries. What is your whole pack voltage and individual battery voltages?

Check terminal connections for loose, dirt and corrosion.

Does this only happen after running for a while, or does it also happen at beginning of use?

Some more details on your system would be helpful for folks to help diagnose the problem. 36 or 48 volt? Controller? What type drive system? The more specs you can give the better.

Each battery test 8.4 but I have not tested the whole thing and right now every time I get on it it runs fine but the last time we went for a ride it was about a mile down the road before it started acting up, Not sure what specs you need but it’s a 48 V club car with six batteries DS model 2005. I tested the battery to the motor pump both terminals and it read 55

Well, while we wait for the true gurus to chime in...
I would check all your wire and cable terminations for dirt, corrosion and loose connections. In addition, next time you run it, see if anything is getting hot. Motor, terminations, etc.

Each battery at 8.4 volts would put your pack at 50.4. So that doesn't seem to be an issue, as that is roughly 88% of charge. Here is a useful state of charge chart a member here put together.

Really need to test it as BBBHC was mentioning and "when" the problem occurs. Gremlins can be a nuisance, but to find them they must be in that state (not running or acting up). Then you can have your meter with you and test the pack voltage, then the solenoid, etc. etc.

If it is completely dead, it is much easier to diagnose because you will find the circuit.

When it occurs, exactly what is happening? Will not move, moves slowly, beeps, surges, etc.

When it acts up I maybe driving and it starts like kicking in and kicking out and then I stop and then nothing and I will put into reverse and forward and keep doing that and sometimes it kicks in and then it may not and then it may take off and run for a little while before doing it again. Now the last two or three days I get on it and it’s like nothing was ever wrong. Could the computer maybe rebooted or something if it has one? I may use it for a month or two and nothing acts up and as soon as we take it camping it may start doing it again.

It is not tied in with rainy days or high humidity is it?

Have you double checked all battery/controller/motor cable connections?

I would think motor brushes but you say a new motor recently.

Do you hear the solenoid opening and closing when it does it? (loud click from behind the seat?

It’s usually a nice day if we are riding and yes I can here the solenoid. I say the motor is new it’s maybe 3 or 4 years old. How can that be checked. Like I say every day in the past few days I get on it to test it and it runs fine for the 5 or 10 minutes I ride it.

You do hear the solenoid clicking when the shuttering is occurring. Meaning it is opening and closing even though you are still on the gas?

And you can pull the motor and inspect the brushes to see if they are worn out or sticking in the holders.
