Default Lester Accu Power model #13800

Battery charger is acting up. 1st plug into cart & electric outlet & amperes reads 20-21 but never changes. Batteries do charge up to 6+ volts each & stay charged. Amperes never moves off 20-21 & consequently, never shuts off. I have to pull plug after a few hours charging. Is it the circuit board? Or? Thanks for the help - I'm a newbie here.

It could either be the timer has failed, or the capacitor might have failed.

A dead capacitor will cause lower voltage output which will mean higher amperage that takes a lot longer come down as the pack charges If the voltage never rises above nominal pack voltage the amperage may never come down.

The old chargers have to rely on the battery voltage rising, so if the batteries are in bad shape and the voltage doesn't come up the way its supposed to the charger will not operate properly.

Try using this troubleshooting guide for the Lestronic II to find whats wrong with yours. https://lesterelectrical.com/wp-cont...ing-Guide-.pdf

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. All 6 batteries are less than 1 year old. Thanks for the advice. I'll check the capacitor out.

Capacitor is dead, no ohms reading at all. Model #13800 Lester Accu Power charger must be old - early 1990's? I'm having a tough time finding a replacement capacitor: 3MF, 660VAC. Found one online for $45 but shipping was $39! To me, that's unnecessarily inflated shipping. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can find this capacitor?
Thanks

Try calling or emailing David Hicks at Revolution Golf cars.

The MF rating of the capacitor is important and is dependent on transformer design and the amperage output of the charger. Hopefully that s the correct one, but I can't find that charger number in any of Lesters documentation to find out for sure. If that's a Club Car branded charger, David should be able to find the correct one for you.
