I see that now. Did just a little price checking, and ScottyB looks pretty reasonable.

Let me hijack my own thread since this is mostly concluded.

After doing these kinds of upgrades, do the carts hold all their value?

I suspect most people tend to keep their machines after upgrading, but are you able to resell these with the upgrades and not take a hit?

I redid my resistor cart from scratch with the help and parts from Scotty B. No clue about resale because there’s really nothing to upgrade to at this point. I love when all my buddies buy a new rig with a lift and tires and my “old” DS smokes them on every obstacle.....

I’m sure a cart savey buyer would recognize the upgrades in the case you ever sale.

Well now.....that can be a touchy subject! I paid $1800 for the original cart, and invested another $2800 in running gear while trying to keep it as stock in appearance as possible. It runs great!

So for my $4600.00 investment, I could probably sell it for around $2500. So I'll just keep it forever!

Pretty much what I figured. At least you can keep the performance parts, and swap the old stuff back in if you get tired of the cart. Either way, a cart is only as fun as you make it.

I have a lot of experience with this subject. I used to buy, fix and sell carts. I never left them stock and as long as I didn't go overboard I could always find a savoy buyer who knew what a new Alltrax cost and what it could do for the cart he was looking to buy. So the key was staying within a budget and finding a knowledgeable buyer.

But like any hobby there is money spent that only returns entertainment & fun Alot of the upgrades you see here on BGW fall into this category - fun money, entertainment, and lots of bragging rights.

Another way you can go about it is to use Craigslist search. Type in any performance keyword like “Alltrax” and see how many come up. You can even go to just about any city in the US of A and repeat that search. This should give you a good idea of resale, and paint a vivid picture.
