Default 4" Allsports A-arm lift shock recommendations

Hey guys. I have run into a problem with my Allsports 4" A-arm lift and the new shocks I just purchased from Golf Cart King. I ordered direct replacement shocks for my 2002 48V DS and the shocks do not seem to be compatible with the Allsports lift. The stock shocks have about 2" of travel before bottoming out but the shocks I just received from Golf Cart King bottom out when I lower the cart back on the ground. I noticed that the new shocks are a lot longer fully compressed than the stock shocks. But fully extended they are the same length. Has anyone had any issues with shocks and the Allsports lifts or any recommendations of what kind of shocks I should use since the replacements will not work? Is there any adjustment on the A-arms that can give me more travel?

First impression is you have received the wrong shocks.

That compressed length is definitely an issue. Call GCK and see if they have a different design to replace that with. If the part #'s haven't changed, this is the OEM part 1014235

All the online sellers I checked claim the correct shock for a DS model should be 8-3/4" compressed and 10-3/8" extended. That includes Golf Cart King. Those dimensions are probably measured eye to eye. That is not a lot of travel but the way they are mounted wouldn't require a lot of shock travel for the suspension travel.

I checked the sticker on the shock that shows which OEM shocks they replace and 1014235 is one of them. I measured the GCK shock and fully compressed from center of eye to eye is approx 8 1/4". I guess I will call them Monday and see if there is an alternative that is shorter. When I installed the GCK shocks and let the front end down on the ground there was no movement at all as they were fully compressed. Only when lifting the front end did the shock move.

Has anyone ever had this issue before? Any recommendations or shock alternatives?

Interesting. Do you have a picture of them installed, with the tires on and sitting on the ground?

Sorry I did not take any pictures. I plan to take everything back apart this weekend to install a 48v reducer and wiring and will reinstall them and take some pictures.

Factory shocks. For a DS. From the same place you bought your lift kit.

They'll fit.

Thanks Dave. I will give you a call sometime today and order some. I have a buddy that has a stock 85 DS I will give the GCK shocks to as his are shot as well.
