Default Cart stopping abruptly

Carryall 2 is stopping abruptly while driving; almost like the brakes are being applied. Pushing down on pedal once doesn't do anything. Push a second time and the cart starts like nothing is wrong. Any suggestions on where to start looking for the issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

What year is it?

Do you hear any clicking sounds when it does this like the solenoid is dropping out?

Sorry for long delay. Haven't been able to work on cart. Will check for clicking sound. May not be able to hear it because cab is noisy on rough ground. Doesn't happen on paved surface. going faster and more bumpy causes it to happen more often. Will check it tomorrow evening and send more info. Cart is a 2005. Thanks for the feedback. Again, sorry for the long delay without getting back.

Make me think you have loose connection(s). While you are checking what Fairtax suggested, you might as well check to make sure all your connections are tight.

Got a chance to do some more testing. Driving on smooth pavement problem never occurs at any speed. On rough ground at slow speeds it never occurred. Rough ground medium spped once in a while. Rough ground full speed. Occurs frequently. At one point, three times in about a half minute. Could not detect any clicking before stop. Occurs they same way every time. I can feel the cart go dead, then after 1-2 seconds it stops abruptly as though brakes are being slammed on. Then warning beeps. Beeps are random in number from 1 to 4. I'll start working through the connections this weekend. If this additional info points to anything else, let me know and I'll do my rookie best to check it out. Thanks all.

Poured over the wiring and found a few issues. Broken wire and rotted end on floor horn button. Replaced floor switch, new terminals and everything working fine there. Found a broken wire and corroded terminals on brake limit switch. Have ordered new switch and taped broken wire for now. Also found a broken wire under dash at light switch. Taped off until I can get a new terminal. Unfortunately cart is doing the same thing with these corrections. Once the limit switch comes in and I hook up the wires to the headlight switch I'll send more info if the problem persists.

Those things probably have nothing to do with your running problem.

However, with all those bad connections, as BBBHC stated check for loose/bad wires elsewhere.

Problem still exists but yesterday I think I may have found the issue. Very loose wire on limit switch of brake pedal. But, I can't test it now because in the course of messing with all these wires I accidentally shorted out a hot wire to ground and now everything is dead. I've started a separate post on that. Once I get the cart running again, I'll provide feedback on this thread.

I may have found the problem. While tracing wiring to try to solve the other issue with the car going completely dead after I shorted a wire (separate thread), I discovered a loose screw on the break pedal limit switch. When I put a screwdriver on it to tighten it, the head fell off. Removed switch tappedout broken screw and reinstalled. Now, if only my cart was running I could confirm.

Closing out the story on this old post. The cart sat for an extended period after a Club Car dealer used their diagnostic tool which pointed to the controller. I guess that makes sense after I shorted out a wire under the dash. Eventually sent controller for rebuild, installed and cart worked fine. Ran fine until sold.
