New Motor Suggestions
Looking for suggestions on a new motor. Cart is a 96 DS that I upgraded to 2g wires, 600a solenoid, heavy duty F/R switch and alltrax 600a controller from Scotty. Everything is installed and working great. Cart has a brand new 6" lift with 22" tires and 12" rims. Torque was actually outstanding with the stock motor compared to the old equipment but i didn't upgrade everything just to keep the stock motor!
I'm looking for more torque than speed. I'd like to use the cart for more of a hunting buggy and also plan on going lithium when this batch of Trojans quits. Thanks all in advanced. I have no idea how to upload pictures that right side up either! |

Re: New Motor Suggestions
I also have a series DS running on lithium.
I'm using a custom wound torque motor from D&D ( ES-58 ) and have gobs of torque with a top speed of 27-28 mph on asphalt. See my signature for my cart specs. The hottest my motor has every been was 150F after a straight 9 mile run without stopping, but creeping through the woods it barely gets warm. It's been very good to me over the past few years. |

Thanks all. I really like the idea of the ES-58. Sounds like a perfect fit.

Re: New Motor Suggestions
I just sold it, but I had an admiral A1 in my DS, 6" lift and 25" tires. It would do close to 30mph (though that gets pretty sketchy....) and still had enough torque to spin the 25" tires for 5-6 feet on my dirt road from a stop. Dont know about asphalt, theres none around me really
Backing out of my shop had to be careful with the go pedal... in reverse it would spin the tires all the way out the door. Cant imagine what an A4 would do, since that's more of a torque motor! |
