Default OBC and Charger

Can a newer Precedent charger be used as a standalone charger directly to the batteries with no OBC involved with no issues?

The ERIC charger used on 2014 and up Precedent does not use the OBC. It is a stand-alone unit.
If you have an OBC cart, you need to bypass the OBC, and the controller lockout circuit.

The PowerDrive 3 charger used on pre-2014 models has to have the OBC. It can not be used without it.

Nope, just moving charger to onboard and want to hook up directly to batteries....

If you have the Off-board version of the ERIC, I think it will not start a new charge cycle just by unplugging and plugging into AC power. At least according to club car the DC power has to be disconnected for it to start a new charge cycle.

That means either using a relay to break the connection between the charger and batteries or continuing to use the DC charge receptacle and plug.

They made a specific on-board version, which is harder to find.
