Tire size suggestion...
Question for those in the know. Put a lift kit and a bunch of other goodies on the cart this weekend, while I had the body off did new diff oil and a v-glide bypass on my 36v resistor cart. This all started because I got a killer deal on a new rear seat last year and when installed the new foot deck sits below where the bumper would be, the old on was above it, and I have to get creative in getting it on and off the truck ramps due to that deck turning into a shovel.
With a 6” lift kit on it it looks a bit silly with the stock wheels and tires. I live in FL, aka not hilly, and I stay almost exclusively on pavement. Does anyone think this cart could push a 22” tire without too much trouble? Typically it’s me, my wife, and two young kids riding. Motor is the 2.97 special service. Thanks! Have 4ga wires, 400amp main selonoid, new bypass is 200amp. |

Re: Tire size suggestion...
It should push it fine. It will have some torque loss.......

Re: Tire size suggestion...
Just keep an eye on the tire weights. It's not the size of the tire that will really hurt you, it's the weight of some of the more off-roadish tires that kills the torque.
Or just pick a tire you like, and roll with it. If it's unbearable then upgrade the motor :) |

I don't know if you're exactly right. A cart would struggle more to push 30" tires than it would to push the 18" it was designed for. Larger circumference, more 'leverage' (torque) needed, regardless the weight. Although weight does add a bit to the equation, it's not the determining factor.

Re: Tire size suggestion...
I think both statements are technically correct, the torque on motor is increased through the increased diameter and you need more torque to overcome the moment of inertia on a heavier wheel. Thanks for everyone’s feed back. It’s all working out pretty well anyway. I got the go ahead from the wife on the lift kit because of the seat we bought, now she’s good with getting new wheels because it looks kinda funny with the stock ones, so with that line of thinking I could throw some big wheels on and she will have to let me upgrade to 48v and a controller! It’s a win win!

It should push them just fine. I did the same for years when my cart was just a 36V toaster oven

Same here with Upgraded wheels. Lighter saw no difference.
