Precedent problem
My daughter and son-in-law recently bought a 2004 precedent. They took it to the local Club Car dealer and had some warrenty work done to it which included replacing the batteries and computer chip. Before this work they could only go between 27 and 36 holes before the cart ran out of juice. They thought that the cart was doing better, but yesterday my son-in-law played 27 and when he put the cart up he noticed that the battery light was on. I've noticed that after the cart is fully charged, you can unplug the charger and plug it back in and it will start to charge again. This charge lasted for a couple of hours not just a couple of minutes. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

Re: Precedent problem
Welcome to BGW!!
If the batteries are new, They will need to be "cycled" (charged and discharged) at least 8 times for the batteries to really get a full charge!... (try not to let them get too low, it's not good for them, 1 or 2 of them may not fully charge again!) As for the charger... The OBC (On Board Computer) regulates the amount of charge required, if he played 19 holes, the OBC will remember that, and only charge the batteries for that amount of use... (to prevent over charging!) When you unplug, and replug in the charger, the OBC checks the status of the batteries, (in which case are new, and not fully "cycled") and will restart the charging process for as long as the OBC tells it too! IMO... All is normal, the batteries need to be "cycled" before you can get the real distance from it! Last edited by lockman1; 08-29-2007 at 06:20 PM.. |

Re: Precedent problem
Thanks, I used their cart the other day and played 36. The cart ran fine and the battery light never came on, I believe I could have gotten 54 out of it.
