Club Car problem
I have a five solenoid club car. Every so often when I release the go pedal to slow down or stop the cart won't go when the pedal is pushed. Does nothing. Seems if it sits for a minute or so it will go again.
Are there any switches that could be over heating?? Please steer me in the right direction. Thanks Larry |

Re: Club Car problem
A solenoid is probably going bad... not surprising they are all over 20 yrs old. The solenmoid closest to the drivers side of the cart is the master. the condition you describe indicates a bad master solenoid.

Re: Club Car problem
Hi Scotty,
I switched places with solenoids. Cart still does the samething. I noticed the first solenoid gets much warmer ( almost hot ) compared to the others. I was running with only five batteries because one is junk. I thought maybe lower volts might be the problem so I removed one other 6 volt and replaced with a 12volt auto battery. Seemed OK for awhile but then cart stopped again but the 12volt was getting low. The cart will go until the go pedal is released, push back down. Nothing. Doesn't take more than a minute or two to cool down and go again. I was going to buy all new batteries but don't want spend big bucks if this thing isn't going to keep going. This is my first cart so I'm trying to learn. Thank you Larry |

Re: Club Car problem
I think you will have nothing but problems until you get the correct batteries in good condition installed.....

Re: Club Car problem
Scotty, I think you are correct. Hate to spend the $$$$$$$ but I can't talk the battery dealers to give them to me. HaHa

Re: Club Car problem
Sticky microswitch in the VGlide ?? have read of people cleaning those. Your solenoid wont activate if the switch sticks open when the throttle is pushed. Your going to need a voltmeter connected to the solenoid when this occurs. Since you say you switched the solenoids with same problem, I would suggest monitoring the voltage on the small wires to monitor switching/activation signal for solenoid.

Re: Club Car problem
Notwithstanding your possible battery issues and this is a bit of a long shot. But you might want to crack the motor case and check the motor brushes. I had an 84 DS with similar symptoms that new brushes corrected.
HIH. Good luck. |
