Trouble shooting a Regen 1 where to start
Good morning- I thank all in advance for their informative replies . I am helping a friend with a 97 Regen 1 cart - first Regen 1 I have worked on. The cart ran in the fall. I it needed new cables and a good cleaning. The pack is at 51.3 the charger works as it should so I am assuming the OBC is functioning properly. The reverse buzzer sounds but nothing at the solinoids. Any insight as to where to go next would be greatly appreciated.

With the rear jacked up, key On, Fwd/Rev Rocker in Fwd, Pedal depressed; then at the small posts of the solenoid test for pack voltage.

Re: Trouble shooting a Regen 1 where to start
I checked at the small posts and have full pack voltage, but the solenoid does not engage. Was going to try bypassing the OBC lockout - yellow wire #19 to pack negative- per one of Sergio's posts. Found that the wires from the key switch had gotten extremely hot at sometime in this carts life and needed to be replaced coating was missing in a lot of places. In the process of doing that now.

Re: Trouble shooting a Regen 1 where to start
If you have the 48v + & - between the small posts then you have the permissives for the contactor (solenoid) to close. If you did not have the Negative (-), jumpering the Yellow wire over would do the trick. Your solenoid has failed if it is not clicking (closing in) while having the correct voltage at the field coil.....

Re: Trouble shooting a Regen 1 where to start
Thank you - I will try the solenoid after replacing the wires. This is a great forum and has been a great help for me on the series and IQ carts I have worked on. Everything I have read on the forum says these Regen 1 carts are quirky in that the OBC is partially responsible for the start up process. Hopefully the wires and solenoid will do the trick
